Police to investigate four suspicious grass fires in Bruce

Firefighters have put out four small fires in Bruce, all of which started in suspicious circumstances.

The Emergency Services Agency said crews from ACT Fire & Rescue and ACT Rural Fire Service attended the fires, the largest of which was about 20m by 20m.

“The cause of the fires is believed to be suspicious and will be handed over to ACT Policing for investigation,” it said.

The fire danger rating where the fires were burning was low-moderate, meaning it could be easily controlled.

“The fires are located on Bruce Ridge near the water reservoirs between Belconnen Way and Gungahlin Drive,” it said.

The ACT Environment and Sustainable Development Directorate is also conducting a ecological burn in the Mulanggari Grassland Nature Reserve off Gungahlin Drive, Franklin, this weekend.
